Be sure to add "Little Red Barns: From Farm to Fable" by Will Potter to your reading list.

Bunny, Sipsworth and the Friend were all great.

Added The Dead Fathers Club by Matt Haig to my reading list; thanks.

I was just reading about Little Red Barns yesterday! Sounds like a fascinating book, and I can’t wait to read it. Hope you enjoy The Dead Fathers Club. I’ll be reading at least one more Matt Haig book this month. Always such a joy to read his work!

Have you read The Life Impossible by Matt Haig? Based on your comments about the author perhaps being more mindful of animals than most people, The Life Impossible confirmed it for me.

Yes, I read it earlier this year—so good! (Spoiler: it’s going on my best of the year list.) Love to see such a popular author treat animals as living creatures rather than just part of the scenery!

Awesome! It has definitely been one of the top books I've read so far this year, so it makes sense. I feel like if he can do that with animals in his fiction-and I do not believe he is remotely vegan or vegetarian-then all authors can follow suit.

Such an interesting round-up. I LOVED Bunny by Mona Awad. And now I've added The Friend by Sigrid Nunez to my to-read list. I'm currently reading Table for One by Substack queen Emma Gannon and...there is a vegan character! Who is not a total weirdo! She is, in fact, the MC's best friend. I'm loving it so far, I'm just really, really hoping she doesn't start eating meat as some kind of "self-discovery and self-care journey" before the 300+ pages are up.
